Guided tour among murals, catacombs and folklore of the Sanità district

The emerging neighborhood

Walk in the Sanità district where we will discover the authenticity of Neapolitan daily life. An emerging district that preserves faces, flavors, history, culture and rebirth. The tour will begin with a visit to the catacombs of San Gennaro and San Gaudioso, the oldest catacombs in Europe. The Catacombs of San Gaudioso are incorporated into the majestic Basilica of Santa Maria della Sanità, with the annexed “Il Presepe Favoloso”, a wonderful nativity scene typical of eighteenth-century Neapolitan art.

We will then continue into the heart of Sanità, passing through the colorful Vicolo della cultura and stopping to contemplate the Mural dedicated to Totò, a Neapolitan prince and actor, whose birthplace is precisely in this neighborhood. We will then continue to visit two eighteenth-century buildings, locations of numerous film sets; Palazzo San Felice and Palazzo dello Spagnuolo. We will conclude our walk at the Mercato dei Vergini, a very characteristic and folkloristic open-air market.
